Wan Chin | July 9, 2008Two guys and a girl okay? Or did you edit that bit out because it sounded too much like a bad sitcom? Speaking of editing - it’s Michael Bay. I’d edit it myself except I just found out I couldn’t.

gumby | July 9, 2008Hi guys, another excellent and entertaining show.
Interesting to hear your thoughts about ‘Get Smart’. Overall I was pretty disappointed with the film. A few points that pissed me off about the film:
1. The studio hires Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway to head an all-star comedy cast and then they go and get the writers of ‘Failure to Launch’ to write this film? Oh c’mon…
2. One of the fundamental premises from which the humour was derived in the original series was Max’s bumbling ineptitude as a secret agent. Why on earth would you “update” the character to make him a thoroughly competent and actually very smart guy? The writers went and literally made Max ‘get smart’, decreasing the humour of the overall concept by a factor of 10.
3. Why call the film ‘Get Smart’ anyway? It basically had little to do with the original series, other than some rather token references. It pretty much just felt like ‘Untitled Steve Carell spoof spy film’ which isn’t a bad thing in itself, but it just felt as though the ‘Get Smart’ brand was being used as a cash-in which is a shame.
Cheers guys,

Great show as usual. Keep talking about Dark Knight,
Kodo | July 9, 2008Great show as usual. Keep talking about Dark Knight, I don’t think anyone minds as it is gonna be a great film. Not sure it is the kind of film that will get looked as as oscar fodder but who knows.
Someone posted the link to the Michael Bay Dark Knight script on twitter last nite and it was hilarious. Even if it’s fake, and it probably is, it is just so well done I wouldn’t be surprised if bay takes credit for it even if it’s just to send himsef up like he did in the CBA ads out here a few months back.
Dexter is a totally brillant show. Best thing since BSG was released. Both my parents have seen both seasons and that is saying something as they are sometimes choosy what they see and they can’t wait to see 3rd season as I am sure most of us are in the same camp.
Keanu and The Day The earth Stood Still. I think some classics shouldn’t be remade and especially not with Keanu. I mentioned to a guy i work with who is into the classic era movies and he groaned rather loudly when I told him that news, he isn’t happy. I saw the trailer when scanning through movie trialers on Apple TV last night but didn’t watch it, maybe I will tonight.
Get Smart?? I think I will wait till this shows up on Foxtel and watch it then. I knew they were kind of re-imagining it but I am not sure if that was the best idea in the world. Pete how could you not llike Get Smart as a kid…shame on you.
I have seen Children of men on DVD lots of time and thought of getting it but for some reason I never have. I thinkit has been on Foxtel so I will look out for it there. Pan’s Labyrnth though I have seen and totally love it. I did the bad thing and downloaded it and watched it but have since got the HD DVD version and it truly comes alive. If you can see it in hi def I defiently recommend it. I am sure it’s out on Blu-ray (boo) now also.
I should have seen Spaced by now, I am bad for not having seen it. Something else I will have to have look at somehow
Keep up the good work.

FixedR6 | July 10, 2008Thank you Pete, you’ve made my night; it’s like an explosion within an explosion, in slow motion, with tanks flying out of it. Now we hack the Internet. Yes, hack the internets. All of them.
Saw Dark Knight at lunch time. Kicked ass.
Kodo | July 16, 2008Saw Dark Knight at lunch time. Kicked ass. No spoilers but there is an explosion scene there that would have made Michael Bay weep with joy.
