Cheers for the info Dominic. We’re always guaranteed to get something wrong.
Good to hear SBS are getting Mad Men though, at least they’ll treat it well.
It seems as though I can be wrong too. It

It seems as though I can be wrong too. It won’t be on later this year, but early next year.

Ahh Mr Agius you had me till you said Oldboy

Ahh Mr Agius you had me till you said Oldboy is almost as good as Kill Bill. Oldboy is so much better than Kill Bill it is beyond explanation. I ordered the collectors tin box from Amazon and it is very cool.
If you like Oldboy also check out Sympathy for Mr Vengence and Sympathy for Lady Vengence.
I can post later when I have actually listened to the show.
Great to see shownotes are back. I was missing them.
Pete:
Great to see shownotes are back. I was missing them.
Pete: Only one use of ‘Gorgeous’ in this episode? I’m dissapointed.
Justin: Can you suggest a blatantly over-the-top, uninformed, non-argumentative, bleating, extremist righty to me? My concern with Moore has always been the lack of a nutter on the other side. I’m always torn between being pleased we live in a world where truely anyone gets to have a voice and being concerned people will believe whatever’s forced down their throats. As someone with more than a passing interest in civil liberties I’ve always been of the opinion it’s better to hand the nutter a microphone than silence the genius.
Dave: Still loving your work but I’ve got something to say on the whole homework thing:
I’m not really a movie nerd like you guys. I couldn’t name four directors and I generally don’t even know actors names. I refer to people as “that guy from Pulp Fiction” or “Hey I didn’t know Anakin was in Jumper” and so on. Discovering the FullTimeCasual podcast helped to broaden my horizons and get me watching a lot of movies I wouldn’t have otherwise seen. A big part of this was the ‘homework’ of the old days.
The way I interpreted the homework was at the end of the show the hosts (you three) would reveal what you’d be talking about next week. This would then be the ‘homework’ so the audience (me) would have seen whatever movie you were talking about just as recently you as guys. Not only does it make sure the audience have seen whatever movie you’re talking about just as recently as you guys, but it even adds a small layer of interactivity and fun (for me, anyway).
So I’m still hanging for real homework. I’m still hanging for “Next week we’ll be discussing Pirates of the Carribean 17 and Alien VS Predator VS al Quaeda”, then I track down both films and watch them, then I listen to you guys talk about them (and all the stuff I don’t know like directors and stuff).
That way I’m not only enlightened as to some film geekery stuff but I’m enlightened as to some relevant film geekery stuff to a film I’ve just seen. Nevermind the fact it’s encouraging me to watch more films that need to be seen.
Without you guys I’d never have seen They Live - I still would’ve (wrongly) attributed those catch phrases to Duke Nukem. I also wouldn’t have fallen so totally utterly in love with Final Destination 2. In fact I had no desire at all to watch it (or the rest of the franchise) until hearing the guys talk about it. I wouldn’t be a massive Romero fan (I’m watching every film and every remake at the moment, then I’ll be moving on to the Return of the Living Dead franchise). You guys have sparked something in me and I’m loving the education, it just needs some nurturing from you guys.
Apologies, Dave, for the lengthy rant - in essense the discussion of the film needs to be AFTER people have seen it. All we need (or I’d like, and as Pete keeps reminding me I’m an arrogant bastard) in the homework segment is the name of it, then when you guys talk about it, us audience folk can follow along.
So, great to have you guys back in almost a rythm now. I think Dave brings some fascinating insight and a better discussion to the show (as Pete always says, Three’s the magic number) and it’s still my most anticipated podcast each week.
Now bring the education back
And what was with the first few seconds? Seemed pretty

Chris you're spot on with your homework comment and we

Chris you’re spot on with your homework comment and we making sure the follow up happens.
We’re moving back to setting one piece of homework per week which we then discuss in the next show, this helps open up the conversation to the community and means we get to hear what you guys thought, and how you interpreted what was on screen. It’s great when the people who we do the show for have an opinion they want to share with us.
Also, isn’t Aliens Vs. Predator Vs. al Qaeda is the next Michael Bay film?
i sure hope so. Fucking hysterical concept imho :)

Macca with a Mac | October 21, 2008I’m a MTAU refugee who’s just discovered the FTC podcast and I’m loving it. Currently downloading old eps.
Watched ep 1&2 of Mad Men today and I’m hooked. Also started watching The Daily Show. Dammit, you blokes are destroying my bandwidth!
BTW, Mad Men will be shown on SBS in April 2009. But that’s too long to wait…
