I have an issue with films that start their advertising early; it’s generally an indicator of pretty poor offering from a distributor who know’s they’ve got a turkey on their hands. Australia not only started its advertising marathon early, but spread it across multiple platforms and in different formats too. It’s at the point where I’m unsure if we’re watching a Tourism Australia advertisment or film trailer any more.

It will get a million bums on seats, and win a couple of AFI awards. Australian film making is dead.

I was at work…

…when this was posted, and I couldn’t watch the trailer. Just now, I did.

There is no describing just how much that movie can fuck off. I didn’t like Strictly Ballroom and I didn’t like Moulin Rouge – Baz has wasted his considerable talent before and he’s wasting it again.

The percentage of men in this great southern land who have worn a drizabone at work is practically zero. I’m stealing a line here, but why wasn’t Romper Stomper called “Australia”?
