Stealing images from the web to illustrate your posts? Use Google Image Search? Well there is an easier way! Check out http://dearcomputer.nl/gir/

Its simply google image search, but instead of giving you page after page of thumbs, that you have to click on, the click to get the image, this clever little site just gives you the images in all their easy to steal glory.

But seriously, dont hotlink from another site. If you find an image you want to steal, copy it accross to any of the free imagehosting sites like photobucket or imageshack and link to them.

Sorry about the lack of updating, the interwebs have been closed in Australia. There really is nothing cool out there.

This is the best i could scrape together:
According to 486 teenage boys on Digg, VIRB is myspace “done right”. Cool, join it now before the next myspace/Facebook/beebo/virb/whatever “done right” comes along. Or you could just host a free forum, and invite your real friends. Or fuck, call you friends at meet up with them.

Lobster Pet. As the developer says; “Well… It is a picture of a lobster. Using the mouse, you ‘pet’ the lobster by clicking on it. It squeaks. Repeat. Enjoy.” I played with it for a miunte before i trashed it.

Darwiin Remote. Control your mac with your WiiMote. Somebody buy me a wii so i can check this one out.

Just when you thought Anna Nicole’s live and death couldnt be any weirder, now OJ Simpson claims he might be the father of her baby. Apparently he has slow moving sperm.

An Offline Editor

Posted in Fulltime Casual, The Interwebs, geek on March 4th, 2007 by Peter Wells – View Comments

I’ve been testing out a few offline blog editors, but so far none have been ideal.

I first tried ecto, because it seemed to have the best reputation, but unfortunately it didn’t work for me.

Next was MarsEdit. Still no joy.

Ecto seemed good, but linking was a bitch. MarsEdit was far nicer to use, but it had the same problem as ecto, any images that i wanted to host offsite were converted into onsite images.

Lets see if MacJournal is any better.

dammit, can someone smarter than me tell me how i can use any of these offline editors and still insert an imageshack image????

Integrity. A Mac app for checking and verifying all the links on your website.

Even Fanboys get the blues. Whinge about macs with Merlin.

Lonely Man found handcuffed in Latex with Donkey. Did they really need to say Loney Man? Surely thats obvious.

AllBookmarks. All your Bookmars (duh) from all your browsers sitting in your menu bar.

I still can’t get my head around MySql. Hopefully this will Help. Universal today!

Soundbyte is a butt ugly program from a butt ugly website. But for podcasters who’ve worked in radio before, it could be useful.

I use Imageshack for my images, and when  i uploaded the nude taichi and yoga video earlier i got this screen. On the left, an ad encouraging binge drinking, on the right, an ad discouraging drink driving. Priceless

Oh My God, I’m A Geek!

Posted in Fulltime Casual, The Interwebs, geek on February 28th, 2007 by Peter Wells – View Comments

When did it happen?

A few years ago my interests were well defined and simple. Boobies, beer, pizza, movies, tv,  the interwebs.

Today i spend half my life writing and talking about software, open source, operating systems, fitts law, etc. Sadder still, i just modified a wordpress plugin, and I’m about to upload it.

But wait, it gets worse. I just signed up as an Apple Developer so i could get my hands on Dashcode, because I have alot of useful widgets, but i dont like the look of them.

Don’t cry for me, I’m already dead.

I Love Forums

Great interent forums are like a town square, where people can meet and discuss things with the community, and get instant feedback.

Myspace and its competitors a like writing your name and phone number on the wall of a public toilet, and sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring…
