The Tarantino roadmap

Posted in Fulltime Casual on August 10th, 2010 by Zac – View Comments

Did you know that Quentin Tarantino plans to retire from filmmaking at the age of sixty and spend his remaining years writing? The man sure likes to talk a lot, but he’s also a very disciplined mofo, so I’ll assume that he’s serious and committed to this.

Tarantino is currently 47. That gives us thirteen more years of his movies. I averaged out the time between his movies so far – three years. That means we get four more movies out of him. That’s maybe a little sad, but of course whatever the finite number of his works, it will have been too few. As for what those movies might be, here are the projects he’s mentioned at one time or another, in the order of my excitement about them:

  • A Southern, a spaghetti western set in slave-era Texas
  • Modesty Blaise, film adaptation of the comic book
  • Kill Bill: Vol. 3 is in development, according to IMDB
  • Come Drink With Me, a remake of a martial arts movie
  • Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! would be a remake of Russ Meyer’s schlocky film

If you don’t tear up watching this, even a lil, you are dead inside.

Cinnamon Chasers – Luv Deluxe

I could watch this on loop for a very very long time. Sure it’s heavily influenced by one of the greatest damn music videos of all time (NSFW), but I frigging love the story in this clip.

80′s synthtastic themes by Harold Faltermeyer

Posted in Fulltime Casual on August 5th, 2010 by Zac – View Comments

So what you’re telling me is that one man composed this rockin’, sassy theme, and the same man composed the iconic synth antem that defined a generation of cop comedies, “Axel F” from “Beverly Hills Cop” (1984), and that man’s name is Harold Faltermeyer and I never knew this before today? That’s just nuts.

Plus, he came back to make a track for this year’s flawed buddy cop movie “Cop Out” and composed something for the upcoming Adrien Brody stoner comedy “High School”? Fantastic.

Second place would go to..

I won’t blame you if you’re a lil confused by the latter image. The Tesla is the first notable electric sportscar (American built too) so you can imagine the smugerati are clamouring to trade in their Toyota Prius sedans – which, coincidently, is the car in the first image.

Noel Fielding has an art show

Posted in Fulltime Casual on August 3rd, 2010 by Zac – View Comments

You know, Vince Noir from The Mighty Boosh.

The artist and comedian paid homage to singer Bryan Ferry with some of his paintings in a series sub-titled “Bryan Ferry vs. Jelly Fox”

My favourite part?

(Noel) handed out Ferry masks to the first 100 visitors to the exhibition. He also played badminton in the street outside and was seen sporting a variety of outfits and pancake face makeup.

Didn’t know he created the art behind the series? You should totes checkout his book.
